How to Limit & Avoid Danger

Fire Stoppers

The ARC recommends several ways to make your home fire-safe. These include installing battery-powered smoke detectors, especially on every floor of your home, and learning how to use a fire extinguisher (for training, contact the Division of the Fire Marshal at (301) 496-0487). Additionally, practice fire drills regularly and create clear emergency escape routes.

During a fire, keep all windows closed to minimize the risk of additional hazards entering your home. To protect yourself financially in case of property loss, ensure you have adequate insurance coverage to help offset repair or replacement costs.

After

After the fire has occurred, be sure to contact your insurance to get your things covered and communicate with anyone around your home such as your neighbors to ensure that they are ok as well.
